WASC values accreditation as a process designed to strengthen schools in the delivery of quality educational programs. Accreditation is important to schools as it impacts students' access to colleges and universities and career opportunities in a variety of ways. The Commission grants accreditation to a school based upon the presumption that the primary goals of accreditation are:
- certification to the public that the school is a trustworthy institution of learning
- the improvement of the school's programs and operations to support student learning
The mission of WCEA is to promote quality Catholic education for students in our member elementary and secondary schools through an accrediting process that assures the primacy of faith formation and educational excellence.
