Catholic Identity

The strong Catholic Identity of Mary Star of the Sea Elementary is what sets us apart from other schools. MSSE has a full time Rector, Fr. Patrick Foutts, O.Praem. He is a NOrbertine priest who visits each classroom once a week to enhance the religious lessons taught regularly by the lay faculty. The Rector also sees to the spiritual needs of the faculty, students, and their families. We celebrate Mass weekly as a school with the Sacrament of Confession consistently available to our students. Each trimester, the school community attends Solemn Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. We have daily morning and afternoon prayers with taking time to pray the Angelus at noon.

Under the instruction of our Rector, the teachers of MSSE become certified Catechists that lead the school by modeling a faith-filled life. Students are required to complete a Christian Service Project, whereby they express their faith in works for the community. Our junior high students also attend annual retreats to build their faith and prepare them for the high school years ahead.

Together, Mary Star of the Sea Elementary and our parish community work to enhance our Catholic Identity through heartfelt expressions of love and caring for our fellow Man and trust our souls to the benevolence of God.
