There is a two-year preparation time for Catholic students to
receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. The
two-year time period begins the date of the student’s
enrollment. Students enrolled in the school either in kindergarten or
grade 1 will receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist
in grade 2. Students enrolled in the school from grades 3-8 are to meet
the preparation requirement of two years and will receive the
sacraments, as determined by the pastor, at a parish Sunday Mass. If
your child has not received the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation,
or Holy Eucharist, and you would like him/her to do so, please contact
the Religious Education Office 310.833.3541 ext.222.
Parent Obligations for Students receiving the Sacraments:
- Sunday Mass attendance. (Students will be asked to keep a monthly
log signed by the priest, usher, or our sacristan, Nick Vilicich each
Sunday. Students will answer simple questions about the Gospel.)
- Parents will attend 6 Faith formation classes over a 2-year period. (2nd Grade will attend 3)
- Parents will attend the mandatory Penance and First Communion information nights held in the classroom
- Parents will attend the practice with their child on the Thursday preceding First Holy Communion.
Sacrament of Reconciliation: The students have the opportunity to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation 4 times a year.
